Dr. Martijn van Hooff is a movement scientist affiliated with the Máxima Medical Center. He specializes in researching sports-related vascular issues. His doctoral research has led to improved diagnostics and treatments, during which he developed innovative methods to measure oxygen saturation and pedal force patterns during exertion. Additionally, he collaborated with Dr. Goof Schep on the development of the FitMáx© questionnaire and is actively involved in its further advancement.

Dr. Goof Schep was a pioneer in sports medicine and a dedicated sports physician. He worked at the Máxima Medical Center since 1992, where he founded the sports medicine department. His work focused on improving the physical fitness of patients, including those with chronic illnesses and oncological conditions. He was an expert in vascular issues among endurance athletes and made significant contributions to research and innovation in his field. Sadly, he passed away in 2024. His dedication to sports medicine and his warm personality inspired and helped countless people. He is remembered as a passionate doctor and an inspiring human being.

Prof. Dr. Lonneke van de Poll works as a lead researcher in the field of the physical and psychosocial consequences of cancer and its treatment in the short and long term. She is also a professor of Cancer Epidemiology and Survival at Tilburg University and a group leader at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam. With the help of NWO grants, she established the PROFILES registry in 2009 and expanded it in 2016.

Marieke van Vessem combines her passion for the mountains with her profession: mountain sports medicine. She conducted research at high altitude, earned the international Diploma in Mountain Medicine (Leicester University, England), is a member of the Medical Committee of the NKBV, and participates as an instructor in the Mountain Medicine course. At Máxima Medical Center in Veldhoven, she works as a sports physician. In her clinic, she treats patients with conditions such as post-COVID symptoms, heart failure, lung disease, or cancer, where exercise is used as medicine. Additionally, she conducts injury consultations and provides sports medical screening for athletes who want to assess their fitness. "Based on an exercise test, we can provide them with specific training advice." Above all, Marieke aims to support mountain athletes, giving meaningful purpose to "her" clinic.
